Abstract: Bronchiectasis is a pulmonary condition defined by an abnormal dilation of the bronchial lumen. Patients will typically have a frequent cough, often productive of sputum with purulent components, and there may be episodes of acute worsening of symptoms called pulmonary exacerbations [1]. It is a heterogeneous condition known to be associated with or caused by numerous etiologies, both pulmonary and extrapulmonary, including cystic fibrosis (CF) [2]. Bronchiectasis is often accompanied by impaired mucociliary clearance creating an environment susceptible to persistent infection and inflammation, inferred by the imaging appearance of thickening of the bronchial wall and/or mucus plugs [3].
