Static Hotspot Identification for Stormwater Network Vulnerability Assessment Using Network Theory and Hydrologic Analysis

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Climate-change-driven extreme rainfall highlights the need for static structural assessments of stormwater networks. This study developed a static hotspot extraction framework integrating invariant design attributes, network connectivity metrics, network centrality metrics, and hydro-hydraulic metrics derived from EPA-SWMM. After min-max normalization and averaging, the top 20% of vulnerable segments were identified. Application to the Jinju-Sangpyeong system revealed concentrated flow patterns due to its tree-like structure and low pipe density, with Catchment Zones B and C consistently emerging as structural hotspots. This framework also provides a foundation for future GNN-based dynamic vulnerability analyses.
