Abstract: Isoxya yatesi Emerit, 1973 is a small orb-weaving spider endemic to South Africa, notable for its hardened, spiny abdomen and its placement within the Afrotropical genus Isoxya Simon, 1885. The general morphology, lifestyle, conservation status and distribution of the species in South Africa are discussed, along with images of live specimens.
