Abstract: navigation, have made it possible to diagnose diseases more quickly and with more precision.7 In an effort to reduce the number of patients who are unwilling to undergo reexamination, this study investigates the characteristics that influence patient contentment during bronchoscopic procedures.8 Materials a n d MethodsA prospective observational study was conducted on 96 patients at a hospital in Southern India. The Institutional Ethics Committee/ Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved this study (ECASM-AIMS-2022-109) based on the criteria of Good Clinical Practice introduction Mechanical and systemic complications are common during bronchoscopy procedures, so it is important to provide patients with more specific information, including detailed risks of these complications and the discomforts clinicians often describe.1,2 Fiberoptic bronchoscopy, in particular, is known for causing discomfort such as coughing, a choking sensation, nausea, and pain. These symptoms can make the experience particularly challenging for many patients, reducing their comfort and willingness to undergo the procedure. To address these issues and enhance the overall patient experience, sedation is commonly used to alleviate discomfort and improve patient tolerance and acceptance of the procedure.According to the British Thoracic Society guidelines, patients undergoing bronchoscopy should receive sedative medications unless contraindications such as medical conditions or risk factors deem sedation unsafe. This recommendation emphasizes the importance of patient comfort and underscores the role of sedation in making bronchoscopy a more manageable and less distressing experience.3 There is no ideal sedative for bronchoscopy, and sedation levels can vary significantly depending on the specific medications used.4 Procedures like bronchoscopy must prioritize patient comfort to ensure informed consent, which is a key prerequisite for proceeding with the examination.5 The studies that investigated patient satisfaction and willingness to return for a repeat bronchoscopy are very few and were done more than a decade ago.6 Recent advancements in bronchoscopy technology, including endobronchial ultrasonography and virtual bronchoscopic 1-
