BatCAT deliverable 2.2: Report on multiphysics modelling of battery production
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This report presents a comprehensive overview of multiphysics modelling activities developed within the BatCAT project to simulate key stages of lithium-ion battery (LIB) manufacturing. Our work addresses the project's objectives to enable more sustainable and efficient battery production processes through predictive modelling and digital twin approaches. Contributions span several partners and manufacturing steps, including modelling of SEI formation (DTU, IFPEN), electrolyte filling (ITWM), electrode calendering (LOYOLA), and battery operation simulations (POLITO, SIMULA, NMBU, UKRI). These efforts are supported by the development of new multiphysics models and coupling strategies (RPTU) that serve as a unifying framework.
