Impact of zinc foliar spraying and potassium fertilization on yield and its components of some wheat genotypes
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This work was conducted to evaluate the performance of three wheat cultivars (Giza171, Misr1, and Gemaiza11), under different potassium fertilization and zinc spraying. The treatments were Control (distilled water), K (as a foliar), K (Soil application), zinc, K (as a foliar) + zinc, K (soil application) + zinc. Results showed that wheat yield and its components were significantly increased by adding of K as foliar + zinc treatment as compared to control treatment in both growing seasons. The cultivars exerted significant values for all studied traits where, Giza 171 was superior for biological yield, seed yield, spike weight and 1000 grains weight, while, Gemiaza 11 recorded the greatest value of spike length and no. of spikelets/spike with significant differences. Misr1 expressed the highest value of no. of tillers/m2. Generally, the data showed that the effect of interaction between potassium fertilization and zinc spraying, and wheat cultivars exhibited significant differences in yield and its components in each season. It could be concluded that application of K as foliar, along with zinc treatment, could be advised for the highest seed yield of Giza171 under Delta conditions.
