A Proposal on Artificial Lighting Design in Offices Considering Visual Comfort and Energy Performance
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Given the extensive working hours spent in offices today, ensuring visual comfort and energy efficiency in lighting design has becomea critical concern. This study aims to develop an approach to determine the effects of artificial lighting parameters on visual comfort and energy consumption in offices. For this purpose, office volumes of three different sizes and with varying surface reflection coefficient, assumed to be located in Trabzon, Turkey were first modeled using DIAlux evo simulation program. Variables related to artificial lighting design parameters were established, and calculations were perfomed within simulation program. W/lm/m2 values were calculated to evaluate the energy efficiency. The data obtained from this study were evaluated using regression analysis and inferential statistical analyses. Based on the findings, it is suggested that a lighting designer consider selecting an LED lamp, a surface mounted direct lighting luminarewitha microprismatic optic type to ensure the visual comfort and energy performance.
