Abstract: Introduction: In hemiplegia, the trunk is affected as a whole, unlike the extremities; thus, core stability is crucial for postural control and movement coordination. Trunk impairment will automatically limit activities of daily living as it facilitates central movement and body control. Yogasanas and Swiss ball exercises are used for core strengthening, but their comparative efficacy on trunk impairment remains underexplored. Materials and Methods: The Yogasanas group (Group A) and the Swiss ball core strengthening group (Group B) included 50 randomly divided hemiplegic patients ( n = 25 each) fulfilling the inclusion criteria. Patients were assessed before and after the 3 weeks of designated intervention program along with conventional physiotherapy treatment. Trunk Impairment Scale (TIS) for trunk control, while the Berg Balance Scale and Timed Up and Go test were used for functional assessment as outcome measures. Statistical analysis was done comparing the efficacy of interventions. Results: Both the groups after 3 weeks of intervention showed significant improvement in trunk control. Group A demonstrated significantly better trunk control according to outcome measures compared to Group B, with P = 0.0017. Conclusion: Based on results, both the groups showed significant improvement; Group A demonstrated significantly better trunk control according to outcome measures compared to Group B, with P = 0.001. Statistical analysis suggests that the yogasanas group gives better results after the 3 weeks of intervention compared to the Swiss ball core group when evaluated with TIS specifically.
