Abstract: Aging is associated with progressive declines in cardiovascular, metabolic, musculoskeletal, and cognitive functions, increasing the risk of chronic diseases and functional impairments. Exercise represents a potent intervention that mitigates age-related changes through systemic adaptations, including enhanced mitochondrial biogenesis, endothelial function, and anti-inflammatory modulation. Different exercise modalities—such as aerobic, resistance, high-intensity, and concurrent training—elicit distinct and complementary benefits, improving cardiorespiratory fitness, body composition, functional capacity, and metabolic health. Available evidence points to the efficacy of personalized programs, including cardiac rehabilitation, postmenopausal interventions, and nutritional therapies, for optimizing healthy longevity and reducing morbidity. Maintaining high cardiorespiratory fitness remains a key predictor of longevity and cardiovascular protection, underscoring the critical role of structured, individualized exercise strategies in promoting healthy aging.
