Abstract: Introduction: The perception of body image is the way a person perceives and evaluates their body, which is formed through not only the way they see themselves in the mirror, but also their thoughts and expectations created under external influences associated with standards. Objective: To investigate satisfaction with self-perception of body image and analyze the nutritional status of women practicing resistance training. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive study was carried out with 86 women practicing resistance training at a gym in the city of São Luís-MA. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire with socioeconomic, demographic and lifestyle information. The adiposity and muscularity silhouette scale was also used to assess satisfaction with body image, in addition to anthropometric assessment and body composition to analyze nutritional status. Results: The majority of participants were between 20 and 29 years old (55.81%) and had completed higher education (58.14%). When dissatisfaction due to adiposity was verified, 73.26% wanted to have thinner bodies and in relation to dissatisfaction due to muscularity, 66.28% wanted to have more muscular bodies. In relation to nutritional status, 59.30% of the participants were classified as eutrophic and 53.49% had a normal fat percentage. Conclusion: Despite the adequate nutritional status, the participants revealed notable dissatisfaction with both adiposity and body muscularity.
