Abstract: The upper cervical spine and orofacial region have a close anatomical, neurophysiological, biomechanical and clinical relationship. The possible positive effect of physiotherapeutic techniques applied to the cervical spine and their repercussions on the orofacial signs and symptoms in TMD patients hasbeen investigated. The aim of this systematic review was to verify the effect of manual therapy techniques applied to the cervical spine on the outcome of orofacial pain intensity in individuals with temporomandibular dysfunction. A Systematic review was performed in Pubmed, Scopus, LILACS, Web of Science and PEDro databases. The search included studies published in English until September 2019.We included randomized clinical trials conducted in individuals aged 18 to 40 years old reporting pain in the TMJ or masticatory region and diagnosed with painful Temporomandibular Dysfunction, who used manual techniques of cervical spine and verified the repercussions of their effects. techniques in the outcome intensity of orofacial pain in these individuals. To evaluate the quality of articles, the PEDro Scale was used.Initially, 424 studies were identified in the databases, but only 2 studies met the criteria and were included in this review. Both studies demonstrated that cervical mobilization techniques were able to promote a reduction in pain intensity in the orofacial region.
