Development of Manufacturing Competencies of Electronic Component Base Distributors: Institutional Factors and Growth Barriers

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The article presents a comprehensive analysis of the institutional structure, financial and production stability, and technological potential of electronic component base (ECB) suppliers in the context of developing distributors’ manufacturing competencies. The study is conducted within the framework of the institutional-economic approach, applying methods of structural analysis, comparative statistics, and interpretation of the impact of institutional factors on the competitiveness of market participants. Special attention is given to identifying the dependence of distributors on different types of suppliers (private, state-owned, and foreign capital), as well as the influence of resource access, digitalization level, and patent activity on resilience and technological independence. Based on the analysis of scientific publications, key performance indicators of business models are structured, and growth barriers associated with the patent gap between Russia and global leaders are determined. The study examines institutional and technological challenges, including sanction pressure, global supply chain disruptions, and the need for accelerated import substitution. A model for comprehensive supplier assessment is considered as a tool for shaping industrial policy and distributor strategies aimed at reducing technological dependence and enhancing adaptability to external changes. The article will be useful to specialists in industrial policy, supply chain management, strategic planning in the electronics industry, as well as researchers focusing on technological sovereignty and the development of high-tech markets.
