Electro-Archaeology II: The Invisible Empire of the North
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This white paper presents a reconstruction of a lost northern cultural and technological continuum through the synthesis of cartographic evidence, geological features, Indigenous oral traditions, material culture, and atmospheric-electrical theory. Building upon the foundational framework introduced in Electro-Archaeology I, this work explores the concept of an “invisible empire” — a non-imperial, non-centralized northern civilization whose technological interaction with landscape and atmosphere has been obscured by collapse, environmental transformation, and historical erasure. Topics include the Saguenay–Norumbega axis, luminous phenomena in northern oral traditions, electrostatic regalia, the electrical geography of the Canadian Shield, the Manicouagan structure as a central node, and the mechanisms of cultural collapse and persistence. This paper is intended as a foundational contribution to the emerging discipline of Electro-Archaeology.
