Abstract: Achieving wide-angle beam steering without parasitic scattering is essential for large-scale passive anomalous reflectarrays in RIS applications. This talk presents a novel design methodology for planar antenna arrays using reactive loads to enable efficient, tunable anomalous reflection. Unlike conventional reflectarrays, the technique allows efficient extremeangle beam steering while minimizing undesired scattering by accurately optimizing sub-wavelength current distributions. Each meta-atom, equipped with a tunable bulk component (e.g., capacitor), is treated as a linear multi-port network, allowing algebraic load optimization. The results pave the way for scalable, reconfigurable reflectarrays for next-generation wireless architectures.
