Developing a Net Zero Transition Framework for HEIs
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: As India moves toward its Net Zero goals, Higher Educational Institutes (HEIs) can play a crucial role in shaping to drive net-zero action on campuses. We propose a co-production-based three-pronged strategy by bringing change in a) physical infrastructure and allied; b) encouraging behavioural changes in stakeholders (students, faculties and staff); and c) strengthening institutional policies for long-term impact by addressing emissions across 8 sectors: energy, transport, materials, waste, water, land use, curriculum, and research. Through this HEIs can become carbon-neutral hubs, inspiring change within and beyond their campuses.
