Electrochemical cutting of microslits on metallic glass using cylindrical submicron tips
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Metallic glass is a promising material for fabricating micro-nanostructures. An electrochemical cutting process using cylindrical submicron tips has been developed. Electrochemical etching of cylindrical submicron tips using a liquid membrane was conducted to produce tips with an average diameter of 0.4 μm. Electrochemical cutting experiments were then performed on nickel-based metallic glass using the fabricated submicron tips. By decreasing the pulse-on time, microslits with an average width of 2.6 μm were obtained using a pulse-on time of 25 ns, which is close to the minimum size currently achievable using this technique.
