Attentional Fixation and Narrative Entrapment: A Content-Agnostic Neurocognitive Model of Cognitive Collapse (WP-01)

Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This working paper (WP-01) introduces a content-agnostic neurocognitive model of attentional fixation and narrative entrapment. The paper formalizes attentional collapse as a breakdown of attentional mobility and metacognitive regulation, independent of belief content. It integrates predictive processing, large-scale attentional network dynamics, and findings from radicalization and obsession research. This paper is part of the FRΛKTALJUMP / Digital Mirror Working Paper Series. A full overview of the research program and recommended reading order is available via the Series Hub (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.18256906).
