Abstract: This article adapts an MBA thesis in Project Management, which defends the application of the PMBOK/PMI guide in peripheral rural social interventions, such as in Vila Açaizal Colônia, in Baião-PA, to increase effectiveness and efficiency. The study criticizes the amateurism, clientelism, and historical dependencies that cause project failures, proposing the guide to reduce waste and discontinuities. Despite the bottlenecks, the solutions include tools such as DRP and SWOT aligned with the guide to optimize project stages and promote local sustainable development
