Advancing Open Science at IRTA: A Case Study of Capacity Building and FAIR Data Implementation
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This poster presents case study IRTA’s strategic implementation of Open Science practices, supported by the Spanish Ministry of Science andInnovation under the María de Guzmán call (2023). It offers a practical example of how to implement an Open Science research culture. IRTA (Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology) is a public research institute composed by 999 professionals (177 senior researchers and 94 early-career scientists) spread across 10 main research centers throughout Catalonia, Spain. This geographical and thematic diversity presents both a strength and a key challenge: how to reach and engage all researchers in adoption of Open Science practices across varied disciplines, infrastructures, and workflows. To ensure broad participation, IRTA implemented a comprehensive capacity buildingstrategy aimed at enhancing institutional understanding and adoption of Open Science.
