Abstract: This paper deals with lexicalism and recent proposals that suggest that argument structure constructions can be or should be handled on a phrasal level. I first provide some general background, then discuss a particular proposal made in Tree Adjoining Grammar and provide a lexical alternative within the framework of HPSG. The paper ends with a comparison of Distributional Morphology and recent DM-based LFG approaches and lexical rule-based HPSG proposals.
