Abstract: Cardiovascular disease (CVD), in general, and particularly, ischemic heart disease (IHD) are an important source of morbidity and mortality in both men and women, being the main cause of mortality in Latin America. In Chile, the National Health Survey (ENS) 2016-2017 reveals that the prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors affects a significant percentage of the female population, for example: high blood pressure (HTN) in a quarter of the population, obesity in a third and sedentary lifestyle in more than 85%.Female gender is considered a factor of poor prognosis after coronary events, including coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) with a higher associated morbidity and mortality compared to men. 1 It is a pressing need, at present, to identify factors that influence surgical outcome of patients undergoing CABG.In the literature we find that this difference is explained by various multifactorial mechanisms: CORONARY REVASCULARIZATION IN WOMEN, BEYOND THE GENDER GAP.
