Experimental Investigation of Bending Behavior in FDM-Printed ASA Beams

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study investigates the influence of 3D printing parameters on the bending behavior of Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate (ASA) fabricated using Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM). The Taguchi Design of Experiments (DoE) method was applied to systematically vary key process parameters, including layer height, nozzle temperature, printing speed, infill angle, and build orientation. Standardized ISO-type beams were produced and subjected to bending tests to evaluate the effect of these parameters on flexural strength and deformation. The results showed that all parameters influence the mechanical response to different extents, with noticeable sensitivity to printing orientation and infill configuration. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the process–property relationships of ASA in additive manufacturing and support future optimization of printing settings.
