All-Fiber Optic Sensing for Multiparameter Monitoring and Domain-Wide Deformation Reconstruction of Aerospace Structures in Thermally Coupled Environments
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This study presents a novel all-fiber optic fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensing network for structural health monitoring (SHM) of payload fairings in extreme thermodynamic coupling environments. This proposed system addresses key technological challenges, including simultaneous multi-parameter measurements, anti-electromagnetic interference, and high-speed data transmission under complex high-temperature working conditions. A wavelength-space dual-multiplexing architecture is introduced, enabling full-domain strain and temperature field sensing using a limited number of monitoring points. Additionally, an inverse finite element algorithm is innovatively applied to reconstruct the three-dimensional displacement field with submillimeter accuracy from localized strain data. Experimental findings demonstrate that the FBG sensor maintains 0.8 με strain measurement accuracy at 500 ℃, which is two orders of magnitude higher than traditional sensors. Additionally, the fairing showed no damage extension under a 15 MPa mechanical load and 420 ℃ thermal shocks.
