Microscope-assisted scleral buckling with fiber-optic scleral depressor for retinal break localization —— A case series
Year: 2026
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: Rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) is an ophthalmic emergency characterized by the separation of the neurosensory retina from the retinal pigment epithelium due to retinal breaks. Scleral buckling is a conventional surgical treatment for this condition. This case series aims to illustrate the application of a novel surgical technique—illuminated scleral depressor-assisted scleral buckling for precise break localization—in clinical practice and to evaluate long-term postoperative outcomes in patients.
