Congenital prepubic sinus in a female infant: a case report
Year: 2026
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: Congenital prepubic sinus (CPS) or fistula is a very rare congenital anomaly, typically presenting as a punctiform opening on the midline overlying the pubis, often with a purulent discharge. Multiple pathogeneses have been proposed in literature but the exact etiology remains unclear as anatomical and pathological features of CPS are often different from one another. We report the diagnosis and successful surgical treatment of congenital CPS in a 2-month-old female infant. • Congenital prepubic sinus is a rare midline urogenital anomaly with debated embryological origin. • Imaging is essential for defining the anatomy of the sinus, the differential diagnosis and surgical planning. • Appropriate surgical management with complete excision of the sinus tract results in excellent outcomes.
