Survey Questionnaires: SciComm ThinkLabs
Year: 2024
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: These survey questionnaires were developed and circulated by the four working groups of the SciComm ThinkLabs initiative convened by FAST India. Designed to gather insights from journalists, editors, institutional and independent science communicators, and scientists, the surveys supported the working groups’ enquiries into the science communication landscape, institutional practices, capacity-building needs, and science–media interactions in India. The questionnaires were used as exploratory tools to surface practitioner experiences, identify systemic challenges, and inform the co-creation of the ThinkLabs outputs, including the SciComm Readiness Tool, the modular training framework, and the Journalist-in-Residence programme framework. These instruments are shared here as part of the project’s commitment to transparency and to support others interested in conducting similar field-mapping exercises or adapting the questions for use in related contexts.
