Temporal interference stimulation for treating prolonged disorders of consciousness: A pilot study
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Prolonged disorder of consciousness (pDoC), characterized by persistent impairment of awareness and/or arousal lasting ≥28 days following brain injury, result from diverse etiologies including traumatic brain injury, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, and stroke [1,2]. The extended management period imposes significant societal costs and substantial emotional/financial burdens on families, compounded by ethical and legal controversies [3]. Consequently, rehabilitation strategies for pDoC patients require more active interventions.
