Enhancing Cybersecurity in Industrial Frameworks Through Inclusive Data Loss Prevention Policies Addressing Phone Number Exposure

Abstract: This paper presents an applied study focused on enhancing Data Loss Prevention (DLP) polices within Microsoft Purview platform by enabling the detection of phone numbers exfiltration specific to Romanian formats. Given the lack of predefined DLP sensitive information types addressing phone numbers detection, a custom regular expression was developed to detect Romanian phone numbers formats that are applicable and used in industrial contexts and operations. The study details the technical steps and practical relevance of the proposed approach, concluding with targeted recommendations for security teams that align with the demands of digital transformation within industrial environments.
