Abstract: Computers are sometimes provided to students with Specific Language Impairment (SLI) in reading and written expression to help them compensate for their spelling difficulties. The aim of our study was to assess its interests and limits. For this purpose, 11 participants with SLI, aged from 10 to 14 and using computer tools were included to this study. Their writing performances were assessed in both typed and handwritten modalities, by using a task derived from the WIAT test. The results did not show a significant difference between the handwritten and typed productions of SLI participants. In addition, length of narrations and spelling precision were not higher in control participants than in SLI participants, both writing modalities compared.
