Abstract: In the title compound, [Eu(C 13 H 12 F 3 O 3 ) 3 (C 2 H 5 OH)(H 2 O)], the tris[4,4,4-trifluoro-1-(4-propoxyphenyl)butane-1,3-dionato(1-)]europium(III) complex is augmented by ethanol and water molecules as neutral co-ligands, leading to a coordination number of 8 of the central Eu III ion. In the crystal structure, O—H...O hydrogen bonding involving ethanol and water as donor and methoxy O atoms as acceptor groups consolidates the crystal packing. The complex has been characterized by positive ion FAB-MS and luminescence spectroscopy.
