Abstract: The use of medications for mental health and behavioral conditions among children and young adults has risen steadily for the past two decades, according to new research from the Perelman School of Medicine. An analysis of prescribing patterns for individuals ages 6 to 24 found that a significant share of young people are receiving multiple medications at once — a practice that can increase the likelihood of harmful drug interactions, say researchers in the Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry .
