Concomitant Carbapenem and Colistin Resistance among Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae Isolates from Patients Visiting a Hospital in Haryana, India

Type: article
Abstract: Dear Editor, I am writing in response to the article “Concomitant Carbapenem and Colistin Resistance among Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae Isolates from Patients Visiting a Hospital in Haryana, India” by Devi et al.[1] There are some limitations of the study and suggestions for future work. Viz. A single-center study design limits the generalizability of the findings, and a multi-center study would provide more representative data. Molecular characterization of resistance mechanisms was not performed, and identifying specific carbapenemase and colistin resistance genes would provide deeper insights.[2] Additionally, clinical outcomes data for patients with carbapenem-resistant and dual-resistant infections were not reported, which would enhance the clinical relevance of the findings. The study did not investigate risk factors associated with the acquisition of these resistant organisms, and long-term trends in resistance rates were not analyzed, which could provide valuable epidemiological insights.[3] Yours Sincerely, Dr. Sanjay Dabhade. Data availability Data sharing not applicable to this article as no datasets were generated and/or analyzed during the current study.
