Appendix A: Ontology requirements specification

Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This record contains supplementary material for an Ontology Requirements Specification Document (ORSD). The domain of this material is Industry 5.0. It documents both the prompt given to a Large Language Model (LLM) and the model-generated response. The prompt focuses on developing an ORSD following the Linked Open Terms (LOT) methodology and the NeOn methodology. NeOn provides guidance for building ontology networks and supports a reuse-oriented and modular approach to ontology engineering. The generated ORSD addresses seven aspects: (a) the purpose of the ontology; (b) the scope of the ontology; (c) its intended end users; (d) the implementation language; (e) its intended uses; (f) its functional requirements; and (g) its non-functional requirements. It focuses on representing three core values (human-centricity; sustainability; resilience) and three supporting dimensions (industrial systems and processes; technology integration; governance). OWL 2 DL is specified as the implementation language. Functional requirements are expressed as competency questions and inference capabilities. The material is provided to support transparency, reproducibility and traceability of the LLM-assisted ontology engineering process.
