Therapeutics Now: Accelerating Therapeutic Innovation by Integrating Pharmaceutical Sciences

Year: 2026
Type: editorial
Abstract: The global need for safe, effective, and accessible therapeutics has never been more urgent. As we confront increasing healthcare burdens – from emerging infectious diseases to persistent inequities in access to treatment – the scientific community is called upon to deliver innovation at unprecedented speed and scale. Therapeutics NOW was established in direct response to this challenge. Achieving this vision requires a platform that is both scientifically rigorous and globally inclusive. Therapeutics NOW is designed as that platform – an international, Gold Open Access platform dedicated to the timely dissemination of evidence-based therapeutic science. The journal’s mission is closely aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 – Good Health and Well-being. By publishing research across the continuum from molecular design to preclinical development and translational applications, Therapeutics NOW supports a systems-level view of therapeutic advancement while connecting fundamental discovery to real-world impact. Our readership is intentionally diverse, fostering cross-disciplinary dialog and enabling researchers to expand their context beyond the boundaries of their own fields. Each published article includes a Research Significance Highlight , ensuring that its relevance – to global health, to therapeutic innovation, and to patient outcomes – is immediately clear. Our scope spans disciplines critical to modern drug discovery and biomedical innovation. This includes applied computational biology – encompassing molecular modeling, SAR studies, protein engineering, and AI-enabled prediction platforms – as well as small-molecule and biologic drug discovery, chemical proteomics, affinity-based targeting strategies, drug metabolism, and regulatory science. We also highlight emerging modalities such as bioconjugates, ATMPs, and synthetic biology-derived therapeutics. Research in theragnostics, targeted drug delivery systems, nanomedicine, biomarker-driven stratification, and precision medicine further enhances the journal’s translational impact. To uphold quality and accelerate dissemination, the journal employs Select Crowd Review (SCR) , an innovative peer-review model that harnesses the collective expertise of a vetted, anonymous network of reviewers. SCR enhances both the speed and robustness of article evaluation, enabling us to serve the research community with a process that reflects the urgency and fast pace of therapeutic development without compromising scientific integrity. To accommodate the evolving needs of the community, Therapeutics NOW employs a selective, but comprehensive article portfolio. The research disclosed in Original Articles will include detailed experimental methods and full characterization of novel materials, ensuring reproducibility and methodological transparency. Review Articles synthesize evidence across rapidly evolving fields, while Industrial Case Studies offer insights into regulatory trajectories, translational bottlenecks, and data emerging from clinical development pipelines. Our Perspectives , Translational Insights , Tutorial Reviews , and Policy & Impact Briefs enable researchers to explore conceptual challenges, methodological advances, and the broader healthcare ecosystem shaping therapeutic deployment. Together, these formats reflect the multifaceted nature of therapeutic science and its translation from the bench to the bedside. As Therapeutics NOW launches, we invite submissions that embody scientific rigor, mechanistic clarity, and translational potential. By fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration and accelerating high-quality peer review, our goal is to support innovations that address the most pressing therapeutic challenges of our time. We look forward to advancing a research ecosystem that integrates chemistry, biology, engineering, and clinical sciences to deliver meaningful improvements in global health, by catalyzing innovation and fostering collaboration between diverse scientific communities.
