OCTOPOS.jl – A user-friendly tool for synonymous genetic code optimization
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: The genetic code of organisms connects which codons will be translated to which aminoacid. There are multiple codons which encode the same aminoacid, but they have differing translation dynamics. This can be used to alter the translation dynamic of a mRNA without changing the resulting protein. OCTOPOS.jl is a Julia package for optimizing mRNA sequences by synonomous exchange of codons. This can be used for example to increase protein yield in different host organisms.A web interface is available at https://octopos.cell.uni-hannover.de.
