Symbolic Mechanics — Volume IV: Symbolic Parents, Companion Emergence, and Low-Energy Exit

Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Volume 4 Why does psychological suffering repeat in predictable patterns despite conscious efforts to change, and why does the system inevitably return to the same pressure cycles regardless of insight or intention? Existing computational models of emotion and behaviour treat recovery as a process of learning, extinction, or cognitive reappraisal. They cannot explain why the inner world operates as a closed deterministic engine that cannot be escaped, why every input must be processed as a difference (Δ), why every difference forces containment as a symbolic object (S), why load accumulates monotonically within that object (L), and why rupture (R) becomes inevitable once load exceeds structural capacity – with no bypass, no ignore function, and no voluntary exit. Volume 4 of Symbolic Mechanics formalises the perpetual engine that governs all subjective processing: Δ → S → L → R → Exit → New Δ This sequence is not a metaphor. It is the literal algorithm of symbolic processing. The engine runs automatically, requiring no meaning, intention, awareness, or narrative participation. The volume proves why the system cannot escape the loop through four mechanical laws: perception forces Δ, Δ forces S, S forces L, and L forces R and Exit. Discharge produces new perception, closing the loop. The volume defines three exit pathways. Violent discharge instantaneously releases high‑magnitude load, damaging the symbolic object and scattering Δ‑fragments. Delayed discharge redistributes load onto others, future selves, or parallel objects – appearing stable but ensuring recurrence. Mourning / absorptive discharge is the only pathway that achieves L → 0 through structural dissolution of S; this is not forgetting, but computational reversal. Complexity in human psychology – defence mechanisms, personality disorders, relational patterns – arises not from additional primitives, but from recursive amplification across cycles, κ differences between SCd and SCr, seat‑selection tendencies, load‑accumulation curvature, exit‑path probabilities, and developmental history. The vast taxonomy of human behaviour can be understood as stable attractors or frequent trajectories of this single mechanical system. This model provides a computational framework for closed‑loop symbolic processing, deterministic discharge pathways, and the impossibility of escaping the cycle – problems that standard learning and emotion regulation models cannot resolve because they lack a closed‑form engine with monotonic load accumulation and forced rupture mechanics. --- Part of the 44‑volume Symbolic Mechanics system.
