Metamaterial based circularly polarized antenna with tapered feed for 5G
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: The research article proposes a metamaterial inspired broadband circularly polarized antenna for 5G and ultrawideband communication .The antenna with tapered feed consist of splilt circular patch with split ring resonator(SRR) inscribed inside and complementary SRR etched on the ground plane . The proposed design achieves a measured impedance bandwidth of 3–14 GHz (132%) and 3 dB axial-ratio bandwidth of 3.3–7 GHz (71.84%), enabling simultaneous coverage of sub-6-GHz communication bands (including 3.6 GHz and 5.8 GHz) and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) spectrum. The antenna exhibits Left-Hand Circular Polarization with a peak boresight gain of 3.66 dBic. The antenna is manufactured on low cost FR4 substrate and measurements are done to verify the accuracy of the prototype.
