Abstract: India is currently one of the largest producers of cane sugar in the world. Sugarcane is an agro-energy crop and India is the homeland of this crop. It is the second largest agro based industry located in rural areas. It provides direct and indirect employment of millions of farmers, farm workers and factory workers. The sugar industries have primary importance not only from the view point of the utility of the millions of consumers but its importance to large cane growers, manufactures and the Government is equally great.
