Abstract: The ooRexx programming language is based on Rexx and adds object-oriented concepts like classes, objects, and the message paradigm (inspired by SmallTalk) to the Rexx language. In addition, ooRexx introduces directives that get carried out by the interpreter in the new setup phase, followed by the execution phase, in which the features introduced by the directives can be immediately exploited. This tutorial first sketches the fundamental concepts of the programming language Rexx and then introduces the most important additions of ooRexx to the Rexx language, which are demonstrated in short, nutshell examples.
