Year: 2000
Type: article
Study design: Clinical Trial
Abstract: To improve the life quality of epilepsy patients, 103 cases were given health education intervention. Intervention forms were as collective teaching combined with individual coaching and follow-up combined with diary feedback. Nurses in outpatient would give patients and their parents health education including knowledge about the disease, how to take medicine and matters needing attention in their daily life. The intervention was evaluated by using American Epileptic Life Quality Scale at before, 1 month later and 6 months later of intervention respectively. Results showed that after intervention, the life quality score of epilepsy patients were markedly higher than that before intervention (P<0.01). And there was no significant difference between 1 month and 6 months after intervention in terms of life quality score (P>0.05). Suggested that health education intervention in epilepsy children may improve both their short-term and long-term life qualities.
