Advanced CFD developments in the new generation solver CODA for Analysis and Design
Year: 2026
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: The new CFD Software by ONERA, DLR and Airbus (CODA) is being developed to enable faster and more reliable flow simulations around innovative aerospace configurations, particularly those defined by the Strategic Research and Innovation Programme for Clean Aviation (SRIA). CODA, in the framework of the FlowSimulator ecosystem, integrates a wide range of functionalities for flow analysis on complex configurations, gradient-based optimization and multidisciplinary simulation, and is designed for HPC (High-Performance Computing) scale efficiency. The code is designed to incorporate classical finite volume (FV) methods as well as promising cuttingedge technologies, such as discontinuous Galerkin (DG) methods, for increased accuracy and efficiency on new computer architectures. These new technologies have been extensively evaluated as part of international workshops for the past twenty years but were not yet integrated into general-purpose, industry-grade computational fluid dynamics solvers. This paper presents the solver's key features, its fundamental and advanced verification and validation, as well as selected applications, demonstrating CODA's capabilities.
