Validating breath-counting as a measure of mindful attention in adolescents
Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: The breath-counting task is hypothesized to capture an objective attentional component of mindfulness. No studies have validated this task in adolescents. Here we preregister analyses with this aim. We examine task measures and their intercorrelations, relationships to self-report trait measures of mindfulness, relationships to the well-established SART task, and finally we aim to look at responsiveness to mindfulness training.
