Abstract: Contributing to language teaching by using computers is an area that has been developing since the 1960s. Computer-assisted language learning (CALL) research, which started with mainframe computers, continues with computers with superior features currently. These enhancements have not only been limited to hardware but have also made significant progress in terms of software. Today, interactive studies are conducted in many areas with the assistance of interactive technology. Some of these studies are related to simulation games. This study aimed to measure the effects of computer multimedia life simulation games on English vocabulary learning and to reveal the positive and negative effects of using simulation games in a classroom environment. Eighteen participants from the prep classes of Mustafa Kemal University participated in the study and two groups were formed as experiment and control group. This experimental study was carried out in a computer laboratory for four weeks and in the light of the data obtained from the pretests and posttests, it was observed that computer multimedia life simulation games had a significant effect on learning English vocabulary. In addition, journal entries and findings from an Implementation Evaluation Questionnaire have revealed some positive and negative consequences of using simulation games in classroom settings.
