Abstract: ventricular function. The patient was scheduled for thymoma resection through midline sternotomy. In the operating room (OR) under local anesthesia, an 18-gauge peripheral intravenous (IV) line and a 20-gauge arterial line were inserted in the left hand and left radial artery, respectively.Since there were no symptoms or contrast-enhanced CT (CECT) findings suggestive of airway compression in the supine position, induction of general anesthesia (GA) was performed with propofol 2 mg/kg.After confirming the ability to mask and ventilate the patient, rocuronium 1 mg/kg was administered, and the trachea was intubated with an 8.5 mm endotracheal tube using direct laryngoscopy.Cardiopulmonary bypass was kept on standby.A 7.5 French central venous catheter was placed in the left femoral vein. The central venous pressure (CVP) was 16 cmH 2 O. TEE (iE33 xMATRIX machine, X7 -2t 3D probe from Philips, Bothell, Washington, United States of America) showed a large mass compressing the RA in the mid-esophageal (ME) 4-chamber view (Fig. 1A and Video 1).
