AO: Hawaiki — The Volcanic Origin of Aotearoa and the Constitutional Framework of Te Ao Hourua. A Precision Interdisciplinary Manuscript: Thirteen Quantifiable, Independently Verified Lines of Evidence (v5.0)
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This addendum to AO: Hawaiki — The Volcanic Origin of Aotearoa and the Constitutional Framework of Te Ao Hourua (v5.0, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.19141551) presents new corroborating evidence and a systematic analysis of the peer landscape conducted on 28 March 2026. Three significant findings are reported. First: Māori oral tradition independently encodes the Tonga–Kermadec arc as the geographic origin of ancestral volcanic fire — a convergence with the geological hypothesis that has not been noted in the published literature. Second: Updated geological survey data confirms Monowai Volcanic Complex parameters exceed those cited in v5.0, strengthening the habitability argument. The outer caldera is now confirmed at 84 km² — larger than the conservative 8.5 × 11 km inner caldera figure used in the original demographic modelling. Third: Systematic review of the current peer literature confirms that no published paper has mounted a quantified, multi-discipline challenge to the metaphorical interpretation of Hawaiki. The thirteen-line convergence framework of v5.0 occupies an uncontested evidential position in the field. A recommended pathway for empirical confirmation — ROV sediment coring at Monowai through GNS Science and NIWA — is formally articulated, with draft correspondence to the relevant research institutions appended.
