Abstract: Acetylation of histones and transcriptional regulators modulates gene expression, but how acetyltransferases define target specificity remains puzzling. In Cell Reports , Gelder et al. 1 have shown how intrinsically disordered regions of CBP temper each other to shape acetyltransferase activity.
