Chemical characterization of the Icarus stream progenitor

Abstract: The search for accreted satellites in the Galactic disk is a challenging task, to which Gaia plays a crucial role in synergy with ground-based spectroscopic surveys. In this context, we identified a chemo-dynamical substructure, Icarus, that is consistent with the debris of a LMC-like galaxy accreted onto a primordial disk on an initial prograde low-inclination orbit (Re Fiorentin et al. 2021, 2024). In order to gain deeper insight on the Icarus stream progenitor, we are obtaining accurate abundances to perform an extended analysis in diagnostic chemical spaces such as [(C+N)/O]-[Ni/Fe] as well as [Al/Fe]-[Mg/Mn], [Ba/Mg]-[Mg/H] and [Y/Eu], [Eu/Mg], [Ba/Y] vs [Fe/H]. Here, we present the first results based on HARP@TNG and discuss the ex-situ scenario.
