Ureteral obstruction caused by migration of a renal embolization coil 25 years after blunt renal trauma

Abstract: Renal arterial embolization is a well-established treatment for renal trauma, with most reported complications occurring early after the procedure. We report a case of ureteral obstruction caused by migration of a renal embolization coil 25 years after blunt renal trauma, managed with initial ureteral stenting followed by elective ureteroscopic removal. This case highlights that embolization-related complications may present long after the original intervention and should be considered in patients presenting with renal colic and a remote history of renal embolization.
