A Phenomenological Extension of the Cosmological Constant Inspired by Selector-Time Theory: Evidence from Pantheon+ Supernovae

Type: article
Abstract: This work presents a phenomenological extension of the cosmological constant inspired by the Selector-Time Theory (STT), an ontological framework in which temporal evolution is associated with structural stabilization processes. Instead of assuming a strictly constant cosmological term, we introduce a weakly redshift-dependent formulation based on a bounded transformation z/(1+z). This functional form is motivated by a structural decomposition identified in the context of number formation, suggesting that effective physical structures arise from a dominant component plus residual corrections. The model is tested against the Pantheon+ compilation of Type Ia supernovae, which provides an integrated probe of the expansion history of the Universe. Results show a consistent improvement over the standard ΛCDM model, with Δχ² ≈ -5.7. Although moderate, the improvement is stable across the dataset and suggests that allowing structured variation in the cosmological sector may provide a viable extension of the standard cosmological model.
