Effect of sildenafil on resting and exercise haemodynamics in hypoxia in patients with pulmonary vascular diseases: data from a randomised controlled trial
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Extract In patients with pulmonary vascular disease (PVD), defined as pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) or chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH), recent therapeutic advances have improved morbidity and mortality [1]. Patients have better exercise tolerance and quality of life and wish to participate in near-normal life, including visits to mountains. However, exposure to hypoxia may further decrease exercise capacity [2] and cause relevant hypoxemia [3].
